ENERGY STAR Program for Modular Homes

The ENERGY STAR Program for Modular Homes has been in the news lately and leaving most people confused.  The EPA is introducing a new version of the program requirements.

Here are the important take-aways you should be aware of with this program:

• ENERGY STAR modular home ordered from  modular builder or homebuyer between 10/1/2011 and 06/30/2012 must comply with Version 2.5 requirements

• Modular homes with an order date on or after 7/1/2012 must comply with the ENERGY STAR guidelines Version 3

• Homes with sales orders placed prior to 10/1/2011 can still comply with Version 2

There is still some debate of when Version 3 will be completely implemented for modular homes but the fluctuation should be resolved in the next few months.
